About the Item

Listed for sale is a set of three cantilever dining chairs with arms, produced by Thonet and presumed to be designed by Mart Stam. Thonet is a historically important furniture company, which had originally produced a number of innovative designs derived from the Bauhaus. This set was acquired from a Syracuse, New York estate. The chairs have chromed steel frames with oak-veneered plywood seat, back, and arms. Many of the tubular designs of this nature have been attributed to either Marcel Breuer or Mart Stam. Given the 1990 production date and longer term production of Stam works through Thonet, it is presumed that this is a Stam design. Condition of the chairs overall is very good, though they do show some signs of wear and use. See photos. The chairs are marked and guaranteed as Thonet pieces. The chairs measures 32.5 inches tall by 22 inches deep and 20 inches wide. The price listed includes all three chairs.

2020 CH37 Dining Chair by Hans Wegner for Carl Hansen in Beech & Paper Cord

2020 CH37 Dining Chair by Hans Wegner for Carl Hansen in Beech & Paper Cord

By Carl Hansen & Søn, Hans J. Wegner

Located in Philadelphia, PA

These are five CH37 Dining Chairs (sold individually) designed by Hans Wegner and produced by Carl Hansen & Son in Denmark. The chairs are made with a solid beech frame, painted black with black paper cord seats. These chairs date to circa 2020 and are guaranteed as authentic. Condition is excellent with only minimal wear. Three of the chairs appear generally terrific. See photos. One chair has a small blemish on the top left corner and another has blemishes on the arms (chairs 4 and 5). If interested, feel free to reach out for specific details. If you chose to purchase four or five of the chairs, we could likely touch-up or refinish those blemished areas so that they were not visible or much less visible. The other three are very nice. These came directly from Carl Hansen and were likely never used in a home or office setting. The minor blemishes on the two chairs were likely just a result of them being stacked at one point. As noted, five chairs are available. The price listed is for one chair. The CH37 chairs...
