Sourced in Lyon, France, this elegant grand set of ten French Louis XVI dining chairs dates to the late 18th to early 19th century and features oval cane backs and matching cane seats within finely carved painted frames retaining a beautifully aged cream and beige patina. The chairs rest on fluted and tapered legs terminating in carved foliate details, while floral rosettes decorate the seat corners, reflecting the restrained neoclassical lines associated with the Louis XVI period. The frames display carved floral cresting, bead-and-reel trim, ribbon-like detailing, and hand-carved apron ornamentation throughout. Their naturally aged painted surface has worn gracefully over centuries, exposing warm wood tones and earlier layers beneath, giving the set exceptional depth and texture. The original hand-woven cane backs and seats contrast beautifully against the naturally aged painted frames.
