Guglielmo Ulrich Six Dining Chairs, Fully restored, Luxury Red Eel leather 40s

About the Item

Rare set of six dining chairs. Back shows the outline that is commonly attributed to Guglielmo Ulrich. There is a gorgeous carving on the curved top. It's not just following the outline of the back, but is scooped making a lip that witness high design and modernity. Chair is fully restored with high gloss polyester finish. I used a deep red Eel leather. Same that IPE Cavalli uses for Visionnaire. Front legs are fluted. Polyester finish has 100 gloss to replicate the original high gloss finish. The curves are highlighted with this finish and the touch is smooth. Great dining set for a mid-century modern and design lover. The Eel leather gives a touch of uniqueness and fits perfectly the 40s look. Summary Wood: Solid wood, beech (or mahogany?) Frame: Carved Restoration: Frame restored and brought back to original rigidity, no wobbling. Finish: High gloss polyester. Sign of use: Chair shows seam on joinet parts and sign of use, although uniformed by the glossy finish. A few woodworm holes. Upholstery: Completely re-upholstered. New belts. New springs. Leather. Red Eel leather from Tuscan tannery. Same used by Visionnaire. Assignment: Frame shows typical Guglielmo Ulrich back construction with the top wave. The fluted front legs dates the set to the 40s when transitional chairs were made for custom request. Probably chairs matched a Regency table. Typical chair made by skilled Brianza ebanista maker. I am assigning this to the late 1940s. Evaluation. By complexity of work and rareness of the group and the perfect restoration and the special leather.

Condition:
Wear consistent with age and use. Minor fading. The color of the chair show a red/brown mahogany finish. On pictures might appear black but is not an ebonised finish. Brass tip on front leg was lacquered with the frame for technical reason.
