About the Item

Set of four Mid-Century dining chairs designed in the style of Vico Magistretti, constructed from solid pine with woven rush seats. Each chair features four cylindrical rounded legs, a simple seat rail, and a single horizontal backrest slat connecting two rounded back posts. The pine frames display natural wood grain and characteristic knots throughout. The woven rush seats are tightly worked in a natural straw tone, adding a craft element to the otherwise minimal, rectilinear silhouette. Magistretti's approach to furniture often combined industrial sensibility with natural materials — his Carimate chair, designed in 1959, popularized exactly this pairing of simple wooden structure with rush or cane seating. Chairs in this style reflect that influence: understated construction, honest materials, and a restrained form that became widely produced across Italy and Europe through the 1960s and 1970s. The set shows wear consistent with age and use, including surface scuffing to the pine frames and very light rush breakage on the seats. Overall condition is good for the age of the set.
