Vittorio Valabrega Rustic Primitive Dining Chairs, Set of 10, 1940's Rare set of rustic Deco chairs. Their appearance is both heavy and light thanks to the ladder back. Carved in Oak, the ladder back terminates in a well delineated chamfered scallop. The legs have a textured surface that has been carved in a refined yet rustic chiseled fashion. The canted stretchers add yet another note of purposeful geometry, style and flair. The chairs' decorative scalloped back extends above Dining Table height extending their design presence in the room and creating a rhythmic motif visible around a table's perimeter. The high backs and 19" seat height also contribute to their comfort. The Oak has a rich, beautiful cognac patina. These chairs are perfect in a stylish urban setting, Lake House, Mountain House or Country Retreat. This set has been cleaned, freshly waxed and polished by our expert finisher in New York City. All joints are stable. These chairs have been freshly reupholstered in muslin. One of the chairs is covered in chintz-- this can easily be removed prior to re-upholstery.
