About the Item

This exceptional set of 4 armchairs was designed by Vittorio Introini for the Italian manufacturer Mario Sabot and dates back to the 1970s. With its combination of sculptural forms, chrome-plated steel, and generously upholstered elements, the ensemble characteristically embodies the progressive Italian furniture design of this era. The design is significantly defined by the distinctive frames made of heavy, chrome-plated steel. The vertical struts transition into widely curved, almost semicircular runners, giving the chairs an elegant, almost floating appearance. The high-gloss chrome surfaces provide an appealing contrast to the understated grey upholstery. The offered set of 4 is in excellent condition. The grey imitation leather upholstery is exceptionally well-preserved and appears almost new. The heavy chrome-plated steel frames are also in excellent condition. The chrome surfaces have a beautiful, even shine and emphasize the high-quality character of the chairs. Through the combination of cool chrome, the elegant grey of the upholstery, and the extraordinary construction, the chairs appear as modern today as they did at the time of their creation. They are perfectly suited as an exclusive ensemble at a dining table or conference table, and also for sophisticated interior, office, or hospitality projects. Vittorio Introini is one of the interesting representatives of Italian design of the 1960s and 1970s. His designs are characterized by an experimental combination of geometric constructions and softer, organic forms. For Mario Sabot, Introini developed various pieces of furniture that are exemplary of the confident Italian design of that period. Mario Sabot produced high-quality, often distinctly sculptural furniture in the 1960s and 1970s, collaborating with renowned Italian designers.
