About the Item

Set of Six Bentwood Dining Chairs, Beech and Teal Fabric, Italy, 1950s. This set of six dining chairs is built from bentwood beech, with steam-formed rear uprights that sweep into a rounded open backrest framing a shaped central splat. The bentwood construction gives each dining chair a light, airy silhouette, with curved arched stretchers linking the tapered legs beneath the rounded seat frame. The warm honey-toned beech contrasts with teal upholstered seats, echoing the Thonet-derived café chair tradition reworked in a mid-century idiom. The refined proportions and continuous curved lines make these bentwood dining chairs graphic from every angle. The beech frames retain their original finish and warm patina throughout. Good vintage condition. Minor surface marks, scuffs and wear to the beech consistent with age and use. Upholstery shows light soiling.
