About the Item

Set of Six Spanish Ladderback Dining Chairs, Carved Oak and Rush, 1950s. This set of six dining chairs is built from solid carved oak with woven rush seats. Each chair has a tall ladderback frame with scalloped and shaped crest rails, pierced floral rosette carving across the horizontal splats, and turned uprights topped by finial caps. The turned front legs and stretchers repeat the baluster profile, while a carved and pierced floral apron sits low between the front legs. The oak carries a warm honey tone, and the hand-woven rush seats add contrasting texture to the architectural verticality of the ladderback frames. These oak dining chairs pair rustic construction with decorative floral carving in the Spanish country tradition. Good vintage condition. Minor surface marks, patina, and wear to the rush seats consistent with age and use.
