About the Item

An exceptional and complete set of six Venetian early 19th century Giltwood dining chairs. This wonderful set is raised by handsome and richly carved cabriole legs, with four displaying a rounded foot, and two with square feet below sumptuous carvings showcased throughout all chairs. The legs lead up to the thick Giltwood aprons displaying the same intricately carved acanthus leaves, seashells, rosettes and foliate sprays, while featuring Giltwood seashell front reserves. Each chair is fitted with a cream colored silk upholstered seat below the open and slanted backs showcasing impressively carved central supports flanked by the scrolled frame and leading to elegant Giltwood reserves at the top. Four chairs feature a foliate spray carved top reserve, while two showcase stunning seashells, and all are finished with smooth Giltwood backs.
