About the Item

A matched pair of solid teak stools with black leatherette upholstered seat pads, Danish workshop cabinetmaker, 1960s. The defining structural feature is the rounded corner post: each leg transitions into the seat rail via a full bull-nose profile — a detail that softens the overall silhouette and signals the hand of a cabinetmaker working within the Danish Modern tradition of resolved, considered joinery. The seat pad sits proud of the frame on four corner posts, creating a floating visual effect that reduces the perceived mass of the object and amplifies the legibility of the teak undercarriage beneath. The pad itself is gently contoured — a shallow saddle form. The undercarriage is constructed from solid teak throughout: four square-section tapered legs, flared outward on both axes for structural integrity, united by a flat H-stretcher rail. The teak grain is close and even, carrying the warm tobacco-brown patina characteristic of well-aged Danish production teak of the period. Sold as a pair. A stool of this construction language and material palette pairs with immediate authority alongside any Danish Modern lounge chair — and integrates with equal ease into Japandi, Organic Modern, and Soft Minimalist interiors.
