About the Item

A lounge chair by Johan Bertil Häggström for Swed-Form, produced in Sweden in the 1970s. An example of Swedish postmodern design, the piece is built around a tubular chrome frame that traces the full outline of the chair. The original black cotton oversized cushions complete the look, introducing a softer counterpoint to the structure. The frame remains fully visible from all sides, giving the chair a clear, graphic presence with a slight industrial edge. The low, open proportions emphasize how the piece sits in space, as much as how it is used. Häggström’s work reflects a balance between modern construction and comfort, characteristic of Scandinavian design in this period.
