About the Item

Placing comfort at the forefront, the Rely lounge chair is a development of the existing armchair shell’s form, with a high-back for additional shoulder and neck support. Available in a selection of fabrics, the design integrates into a variety of interior schemes and settings with ease. Dimensions H: 86 cm / 33.86 in W: 81 cm / 31.89 in D: 82 cm / 32.28 in Seating Depth: 55 cm / 21.65 in Seating Height: 43 cm / 16.93 in Weight 19.7 kg Strength, durability and safety testing EN 16139 Product Material Recycled plastic shell, HR Foam, textile, aluminum base Production Process Injection molded shell made of 100% recycled PP plastic, upholstered in foam and textile. The seat is made of a separate wooden shell which is upholstered and inserted into the plastic shell. The aluminum legs are powder-coated or polished and mounted onto a steel under carrier. We are unable to accept cancellations once the order is confirmed and production has begun. Designer Hee Welling Hee Welling (born 1974) is an award-winning furniture designer. In addition to being exhibited at fairs and museums worldwide, his products can be found in a diverse array of interiors, from The Oslo Opera House to Australia’s parliament. Raised in the Danish countryside, Welling’s lifelong appreciation for the outdoors can be seen in the honest minimalism of his pieces. Each of his creations is united by a distinctive visual identity as he focuses on clean lines and simple silhouettes. Welling works with a wide array of materials, including opposing yet tactful pairings such as wood and metal alongside non-natural elements like recycled plastic. While decidedly modern, Welling’s work sits within the broader context of the Scandinavian design tradition. As such, his pieces are underpinned by a belief in function as the cornerstone of furniture design. Looking to Old Masters like Arne Jacobsen and Hans J. Wegner, he seeks to continue their legacy with carefully crafted pieces that prioritize logic. No detail, Welling believes, should be superfluous. Instead, he works through an intuitive design process to ensure that each of his pieces is optimized to its highest purpose. Welling attended The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts for his bachelor’s degree, with one semester studying at The University of Art and Design in Helsinki. He went on to gain a master’s in furniture design from the Academy. In 2003, he established his eponymous studio in Copenhagen.
