About the Item

A charming antique swivel captain’s desk chair, likely English or European, dating to the late Victorian or Edwardian period, circa 1890–1910. The chair has a dark stained hardwood frame with a rounded horseshoe back rail and continuous open arms, ending in rounded scroll hand rests. The back has a simpler shaped central splat with a heart or teardrop-shaped cut-out, flanked by smaller side supports. The circular woven cane seat sits within a rounded wooden seat frame. Below, the chair rests on a revolving pedestal base with four curved legs and a central stretcher support. This is a decorative and functional antique desk chair with attractive patina and a classic captain’s chair silhouette.
