About the Item

This pair of mid nineteenth century French Henri II style hand carved beechwood side chairs features gold detailed lion heads at the top of the seat backs. Additional gold detailed acanthus leaves and scrolling complete the look. The chairs rest on fluted legs joined by a lower stretcher that provides stability. The front support of the lower stretcher is finished with a hand carved egg and dart motif. This handsome pair of chairs is upholstered in a gold threaded needlepoint. c. 1850.
