Designed with stackability in mind, the Daystak Side Chair by Robin Day is a lesson in functional utility and the beauty of simple forms. Exhibiting the designer’s dedication to craft, the side chair’s complex construction belies its visual simplicity and minimalist mid-century silhouette. We are unable to accept cancellations once the order is confirmed and production has begun. Product Material Solid beech, beech and walnut veneer. This product has not been treated with any biocides. Production Process The solid beech frame is cut using a CNC machine. The seat, back and back supports are made by form-pressing laminated veneer layers together with glue, and then cut into their final shape using a CNC machine. The entire chair is then sanded and the frame is glued together. Dimensions H: 76.1 cm / 30 inch W: 50.3 cm / 20 inch D: 48.4 cm / 19 inch Seat H: 46.3 cm / 18 inch Seat D: 37.5 cm / 15 inch Weight 4.5 kg DESIGNER Robin Day Born and raised in the furniture making town of High Wycombe, Robin Day (1915-2010) grew up surrounded by timber yards and cabinetmaking workshops. After graduating from Royal College of London, his dream of becoming a furniture designer was put on hold due to the outbreak of World War II. He instead developed his skills making drawings and models for architects, signwriting, producing showcards for fashion boutiques and teaching technical drawing and lettering part-time. He later went on to become an established exhibition designer.
