About the Item

Set of four Model No. 17 bentwood dining chairs by Thonet, first produced in Vienna in 1904 and later license made in Naples by Sautto & Liberale for Thonet. Crafted using Thonet’s revolutionary steam-bent wood technique, these chairs are lightweight, strong, and beautifully curved without heavy joints or visible screws. The design features tall oval backrests with circular cut-outs and original hand-woven cane seats in excellent condition. Finished in a deep black the throughout the bentwood structure. Horizontal stretchers provide stability while keeping the silhouette light and elegant. Presented in a refinished condition with age-appropriate wear that adds warmth and authenticity. An iconic example of early 20th-century Austrian design, perfect for collectors of Art Nouveau, Vienna Secession, Jugendstil, or classic European café furniture. Ideal for dining rooms, boutique interiors, or refined modern spaces seeking timeless design.
