4D Stool II by Kutarq Studio Materials: Stainless steel. Dimensions: D 29 x W 29 x H 42 cm The 4D STOOLS emerge from years of dedicated exploration, embodying a seamless fusion of form and function. These pieces redefine the transition from raw material to finished object; through precise hand-bending, a flat 2D stainless steel sheet is transformed into a sculptural 3D form. The act of bending introduces motion into the material, inspiring the name of the series—where the "fourth dimension" represents the movement captured within the metal. The negative spaces created by the legs establish a dynamic visual, granting each piece a distinctive character and unexpected lightness despite its solid construction. Crafted from a single 5mm-thick steel sheet without welding, the design stands as a rigorous exercise in minimalism. As a monomaterial statement of sustainable design, the 4D Stools are built to last. Leading KUTARQ studio, architect and designer Jordi López Aguiló designs lighting, objects and furniture with a unique and pragmatic perspective. Each project involves a methodical process that emphasizes both material and research. With the constant challenge of revealing the "soul" behind his objects, he offers their users not just an aesthetic piece but rather a design with personality and a life of its own. After spending time abroad collaborating with prestigious architecture firms in Paris and Copenhagen, he settled down in his home town Valencia where he's been leading his own studio since 2012. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at Milan Design Week, Frankfurt Light & Building, Neocon Chicago, Tokyo Design Week, Stockholm Furniture Fair, Paris Maison & Objet and Seoul Living Design Fair.
