About the Item

Boudoir Stool by Mylene Niedzialkowski Dimensions: Ø 35 x H 45. Materials: Brass and wicker. Stool with brass, seat in fine wickerwork, entirely handmade. Hand-woven black wicker from Villaine. All our collections start from an exploration, from a curiosity for the material, from the discovery of the gesture to work it, from the application to master it and finally, from the care to arrive at the object that you discover while browsing these pages. Georges adorns himself with rare fibers and raw materials to carefully manufacture, entirely by hand, sincere objects and other numbered masterpieces, always in a reasoned approach. All our objects and lights are handmade in our factory in Béarn, in Méritein. In this castle, our teams use simple and raw materials sourced as close as possible and transformed on site. A manufacturing process that is economical in resources, generous in know-how and respectful of the environment. At the basis of each object, there is a permanent desire to experiment. To understand matter, its constraints, its properties. And to transform it, taking care to only work on it as minimally as possible. From this desire to leave the raw material as raw as possible, Mylene Niedzialkowski draws and designs pieces with minimal lines, with singular and assertive irregularities. Sailing between the South West of France and Paris, fascinated by arte povera and popular arts, Mylene Niedzialkowski strives to accumulate local raw materials in her workshop, from neighboring regions, basic and common materials, ordinary and daily, both household and industrial or even from production residues. From this collection which oscillates between material library and cabinet of curiosities, simple objects with clean lines are created, sometimes everyday, sometimes with an essentially decorative function.

Assento Stool by Macheia

Assento Stool by Macheia Handmade In Portugal. Dimensions: D 55 x W 75 x H 40 cm. Materials: Natural dried bulrush and galvanized iron. Inspired by Tanho, the most iconic piece of the Bunho technique, Assento is a hybrid between a sitting stool and a side table. The bulrush spiral extends into a metal arc that embraces the wheel into the metal structure. The low seat’s organic shape represents a release from the spiraling motion of the wheel. The Collection zooms in the Bunho technique - a unique portuguese basketry technique that shapes the natural fiber Bulrush (Schoenoplectrus Palla), into a intricate mesh of knots and stitches. Nowadays, the Bunho technique is kept by the hands and know-how of only two artisans in Europe, One of them is Manuel Ferreira...
