About the Item

This tripod stool is Danish in origin and dates from the 1960s. The solid oak seat is carved with a saddle profile, dipping at the centre and rising toward each end, with a raised ridge running across the middle for added grip and comfort. The underside of the seat retains a shallow, hand-worked concavity, visible in the turned tool marks and natural variation of the grain. Three splayed legs are turned with a faceted, gently tapering profile and joined by a Y-shaped stretcher below the seat, adding stability without interrupting the open silhouette. The legs terminate in slightly flared feet. Construction throughout is solid, with a warm, even walnut-brown stain that allows the oak grain to remain visible. A compact, sculptural stool that works equally well as a seat or as a plant or display stand.
