About the Item

An English oak tall stool dating to circa 1920, combining a well-patinated leather seat with a sturdy base of turned and splayed legs. The generously cushioned seat has a gently shaped outline and retains the rich color variation, creasing and surface character developed through decades of use. Each of the four oak legs is ornamented with restrained ring turnings and joined by turned stretchers at two different heights. This arrangement strengthens the tall frame while providing convenient footrests from either side. The outward spread of the legs creates a broad, stable footprint and gives the stool a particularly appealing silhouette. With a seat height of 32.25 inches, the piece is suited to use as a bar stool, studio stool or distinctive occasional perch. Its compact seat measures approximately 17 inches wide by 12.5 inches deep, while the feet extend to an overall footprint of 21 by 20.5 inches. The combination of warm oak and time-softened leather gives the stool the informal, practical character associated with traditional English furnishings.
