Materials: Fabric (also available in leather) Handle: Noce Canaletto solid wood Dimensions: W 51.1 x D 34.7 x H 49.8 cm For the Gardian stool by designer Patrick Norguet, the concept of seating was reduced to its most minimal expression, reaching the greatest simplicity possible. A movable piece of furniture designed for occasional use and to be useful in any sort of context: at work or by a bedside, around a dining table or behind a desk. Inspired by totemic headrests from Africa, it is reduced here to its most elementary function: supporting the body in a seated position. Its design borrows from the proud head of bull herds, while its name is a direct reference to the men who keep them, the guardians of Camargue. Patrick Norguet approaches objects and design from a graphical perspective. Since childhood, he has preferred sketchbooks to textbooks, filling them up with sketches and drawings. A “handson” approach of industry and design studies in Paris (ESDI) mark the unusual profile of this constructive rebel. His career underwent a dramatic change in 2000 when Giulio Cappellini spotted his now famous Rainbow chair. He joined the circle of designers that matter and created his Parisian studio. Since that time, he has been designing for major producers and renowned brands. Drawing inspiration from everything that surrounds him, Patrick Norguet does not follow trends but seeks to give shape to products whose relevance and modernity would withstand the test of time.
