We are delighted to offer for sale this absolutely stunning circa 1840 A Gardner & Son Glasgow flamed mahogany serpentine fronted library bookcase with ornately carved Claw & Ball feet A very good looking and well made piece, it screams late Georgian decadence. This is one of those pieces that to the untrained eye looks to be quite normal but a quick look closer and you can see the premium timbers, the sublime carving and so it We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, its in good used period order throughout Dimensions: Height:- 122cm Width:- 152cm Depth:- 42.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point A. Gardner & Son were cabinet makers based at 36 Jamaica Street, Glasgow in Scotland. They built very fine quality antique furniture using quality woods but mainly used Mahogany and Walnut with fine quality inlays. A Gardner & Son started in the Georgian era of 1803 by his Grandfather. A Gardner took over the business in 1832 and the company continued for over 150 years of creating fine furniture. This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
