About the Item

A stunning and most impressive Tuscan 19th century Baroque st. Walnut and Bone buffet. This high quality and large scale three door buffet is raised on four scrolled feet below the arbalest shaped and mottled apron. Above are the three doors, each with a rectangular inlaid panel set within a cut angled corners, with the central door displaying the original family crest of the owner. The two larger doors to each side showcase wonderful and intricately detailed Bone inlays, with Apollo to the left and Venus to the right. Each door is designed with triangular shaped inlaid panels of scrolled foliate movements, while accented with Bone flowers throughout. To each side are the rounded corners with central oval reserves of a winged cherub surrounded by scrolls and foliate Bone designs, before the exceptionally inlaid side panels. The single central drawer displays foliate scrolls and Bone inlaid designs surrounding the keyhole, while above is the arbalest shaped top showcasing three inlaid panels surrounded by a mottled edge. *The buffet retains the label from the original antiques dealer, while also available with its complementary larger scale buffet, item# 14701, sold separately.

This elegant, antique fruit wood sideboard was carved in Southern France, circa 1880. The Classic sideboard exemplifies the Louis XV style with a heavy presence, dramatic lines and intricate floral and foliage carvings throughout. The cabinet stands on small cabriole legs ending with escargot feet, over a scalloped apron heavily decorated with a center urn filled with floral and leaf motifs.
