About the Item

Stunning late 18th century baroque Swedish cabinet. Dating anywhere between 1790 to 1850, this is a beautiful later example of Swedish baroque craftsmanship. The cabinet features two large open front doors, and four substantial wooden drawers. The piece was painted white and gold, the gold filigree highlighting remarkable, high relief carvings into the cabinet. The labor and craft involved in the creation of this piece is surpassed by none other. The interior of the cabinet houses two shelves, one built in to the cabinet and the other loose. This is the type of cabinet you plan the house around. A story in old world craft that will endure for centuries to come! Measures 51"W x 26"D x 77 1/4"H. The wear is consistent with age. Expect nicks, dings, scratches, discoloration, cracks and minor losses. There is a cut hole in the back of the cabinet. The hinges are not original, and evidence of repair is apparent in the areas. There is one minor loss to the lower left area of carving where the hinge screws blew out a small section of carving - pictured. Does not come with a key.
