About the Item

Almost a pair of very rare if not unique cabinets designed by Axel Einar Hjorth from the "Caesar" series. Produced in 1932 and 1933 in Sweden. Stained birch. Rich decorated hand carved flamed birch doors panels. Clear birch finish interiors with adjustable shelves. Original hardware. Presumably produced by AB Nordiska Kompaniet, Sweden. A similar example of the present model was included in the International Exhibition in Barcelona in 1929. Cabinet 1. Dimensions : W 51" x D 20" x H 63". Base dimensions : W 58" x D 23.5". Original finish. Marked underneath with pencil in Swedish "Cabinet Lion". Cabinet 2 . Dimensions: W 39" x D 20" x H 66". Base dimensions W 46" x D 23.5". Refinished. Key's included. Designer authenticity was proved by Thomas Ekstrom, co-author of the book "Axel Einar Hjorth Mobelarkitekt" by Bokforlaget Signum, Stockholm 2009.
