About the Item

A striking centerpiece of 1930s French cabinetmaking, this elegant tall cabinet epitomizes the refined, architectural aesthetic of the Art Deco era. Its slender, upright form—often referred to as a chiffonnier or cocktail cabinet—is a superb example of high-end, transitional lounge furniture. The main body of the piece is swathed in a sumptuous, highly polished burl walnut veneer. The wood grain has been meticulously book-matched, creating a mesmerizing, symmetrical, and beautifully fluid pattern across the double doors. The true focal point of this piece is the pair of rectangular inlaid panels centered on each door. These panels feature breathtakingly complex geometric marquetry, skillfully combining contrasting light woods (such as maple) and ebonized wood to create stylized, architectural motifs. The dynamic, rhythmic shapes—reminiscent of skyscrapers, ziggurats, and sweeping modern lines—are absolute hallmarks of the finest Art Deco design. The doors are operated by their original, textured vertical handles in cast brass or bronze, perfectly complementing the cabinet's geometry. The entire piece is elevated on a dark, fluted wooden base and supported by four elegantly tapered, splayed legs—a signature of French craftsmanship from this period. Offered in excellent vintage condition with a warm, authentic patina. This versatile and highly decorative piece would serve perfectly as a sophisticated dry bar, a luxurious bedroom chiffonnier, or a standout accent in any curated interior
