About the Item

Giotto Stoppino He designed the Parioli sideboard for Acerbis in 1977, the same year that the Sheraton sideboard—designed with Lodovico Acerbis for the same manufacturer—won the Compasso d’Oro. After studying at IUAV and the Politecnico di Milano, Stoppino worked alongside Ernesto Nathan Rogers and Vittorio Gregotti, and went on to collaborate with Kartell, Bernini, Driade, and Acerbis in a career that earned him three Compasso d’Oro awards. The Parioli system reflects the modular approach typical of Italian design during those years: independent storage modules—hinged doors and drawers—that can be combined in various configurations to suit different needs. This piece features paired folding doors designed to create a continuous, symmetrical grain pattern on each front, flanked by a drawer unit made of satin-finished steel. The top extends the full length as a single surface edged in wood, with a thin steel insert along the front edge that matches the finish of the dresser. The base rests on a set-back steel plinth—a detail consistent with Acerbis’s designs from that period—which visually lightens the piece’s overall mass.
