About the Item

A superb pair of French Louis XV style vitrines or display cabinets, richly mounted in gilt bronze and finished with elegant marble tops Each cabinet is beautifully veneered in warm-toned kingwood or tulipwood, with fine inlaid borders and delicate parquetry panels to the lower sections Bought from a dealer on Marche Biron at Paris antiques markets The serpentine sides and gently bombe outline give the pieces a distinctly Rococo silhouette, enhanced by finely cast ormolu mounts throughout The upper section features a glazed door framed by an arched gilt bronze surround, opening to reveal a luxurious, button-tufted silk-lined interior in a soft champagne tone A central glass shelf provides two display levels, ideal for porcelain, objects art or fine jewellery The interior is further embellished with ornate gilt bronze floral swags and ribbon motifs, adding a sense of theatrical elegance The frieze is adorned with classical ormolu mounts depicting floral garlands and ribbon bows, while the corners are dressed with scrolling acanthus mounts The cabinets stand on elegant cabriole legs terminating in finely cast gilt bronze sabots Topped with shaped white marble slabs, these are decorative statement pieces of great refinement b perfect for flanking a fireplace or anchoring a formal interior scheme with unmistakable French grandeur Offered in great shape Will ship to anywhere in the world - including the US - please get in touch for a shipping quote
