About the Item

A handsome late 17th Century walnut secrétaire chest from Florence, Italy.  The upper section folds back to reveal a writing surface and an arrangement of finely carved drawers, creating an elegant and practical workspace concealed within the piece. Displaying a wonderfully rich, deep patina acquired over centuries, the chest is beautifully crafted with a striking façade featuring a series of lozenge-shaped geometric carvings.  With original circular brass handles provide a pleasing contrast to the warmth of the walnut and enhance its bold architectural presence. Both decorative and functional, this exceptional secrétaire combines the refined craftsmanship of Florentine cabinetmaking with a highly distinctive design, making it a superb statement piece for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
