About the Item

Chest of drawers hand-crafted in the Netherlands in the early 1800s using oak and following Gustavian. The chest of drawers is small in size but provides three large drawers with substantial storage space. The drawers are inset with flat fronts and all three of roughly the same size. The hardware is not original, but still made of solid brass and fits well with the style. The small commode has very straight lines that are softened by the placement of molding around the base and the corners. The corners are cantered and fluted, and the chest still sits on its orginal fluted, tapered feet on the front and bracket feet on the back. The top is made of three boards with ogee edges, mortised together and nailed to the case with square nails. The corners of the front board are also canted and protruding, following the shape of the case, and giving beautiful balance to the piece. The chest was painted a light blu which fits perfectly well with the style and make is an absolutely unique piece. Overall this is a gorgeous piece that packs a ton of character in a very small footprint. The color is absolutely stunning and its overall size and lines make it a perfect piece for many different spots in a house as well as many different settings. The color and lines are timeless, therefore whether the home is filled with antiques or modern pieces this small chest will look right at home with all.
