About the Item

Walnut and English yew burl dresser with removable mirror. Purchased in Philadelphia, in 1970, from an antique dealer who informed the buyers that it was from a mansion in the Dupont Circle area of Washington D.C.. The home was being torn down for construction of an embassy at that time. The buyers used it continuously in several homes from 1970 until 2022, at which time, a move necessitated a different style of furniture and it was acquired along with the matching bed by our company. In 1973 the set was appraised for $10,000, which translates to roughly $60,000+. The appraiser attributed the set to the George Henkels “Warerooms” in Philadelphia in the 1800s.
