About the Item

A French oak credenza from the 1940s, crafted in solid oak with a warm, honeyed tone and pronounced natural grain. The elongated case is elevated on finely tapered legs, lending the substantial form a composed, architectural lightness. The façade is defined by mirrored panel doors framed with gently curved oak cross-bracing — an expression of French atelier craftsmanship where structure becomes ornament. Each element feels integrated and deliberate, revealing careful shaping and hand-finished detailing that highlights the integrity of the material. The interplay between solid oak and mirrored glass introduces depth and movement, allowing the piece to shift subtly within its surroundings. The three doors open to reveal generous interior shelving and precise cabinetmaking throughout, offering substantial concealed storage suited to a dining room, living space, or entryway. Sculptural yet restrained, the credenza carries a quiet authority — a material-forward work that anchors a room through proportion, craftsmanship, and presence. Condition: This credenza remains in great vintage condition, with a warm, time-softened patina to the oak surfaces. Light surface scuffs and gentle signs of use are present, consistent with age and handling, and do not detract from the overall presentation. The piece has been partially refinished by our restoration team to refresh the surface while preserving its natural character. The mahogany top has been carefully toned to harmonize with the surrounding oak, resulting in a cohesive, balanced appearance. Includes two working keys.
