About the Item

This is a handsome pair of matching bombé chests, designed and produced by Maitland-Smith in the 1990s. The bombé form originated in 17th century France, aptly named after the French word for "swollen" or "curved". The silhouette features convex curves that bulge outward on the front and sides, tapering in at the base. This pair features a high-quality, tooled leather veneer in a cream hue, and they don large, round metal pulls. Each piece has three large drawers with deep, wide storage space. There is also a pull-out writing surface on each chest as photographed. Each chest measures 18.5 inches long, 43.5 inches wide, and 32.5 inches high. The listed price includes the pair of two chests as shown.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Minor structural damages. Minor fading. There are some light scratches and scuffs on this pair, but overall, they are in extremely good condition. There are some chips to the finish on the corners and some crazing to the surface finish. Please see photos.
