About the Item

Striking Art Deco Style Bar Cabinet by Harrods (B.A.) Ld́a. - High Gloss Black Lacquer & Grape Marquetry An exceptional and highly stylized vintage Art Deco style bar cabinet, produced in Argentina by the esteemed Harrods (Bs. As.) Ld́a. store in Buenos Aires. This piece brilliantly captures the glamour and geometric elegance of the 1940s aesthetic. The cabinet features a dramatic curved, trapezoidal silhouette, finished throughout in a stunning high-gloss black lacquer that reflects light beautifully, paired with a sophisticated mahogany or darker wood top trim. The front face is adorned with a captivating grapevine marquetry inlay, executed in warm, contrasting woods (likely maple, sycamore, or walnut), depicting a cluster of grapes and autumn leaves. This detailed inlay adds a rich, organic touch to the sleek, lacquered surface. Further enhancing its period style, the cabinet is fitted with an elegant, curved chrome-plated metal footrail for comfortable use as a serving bar. The piece stands on four attractive carved, turned feet that lift the cabinet and complete its refined look. The reverse side reveals the bar’s practical function, featuring: • Two top drawers for bar tools and accessories. • Ample central open shelving for bottles and glassware. • Vertical shelving/cubbies, perfect for wine bottle storage. • Side storage cabinets with doors. The cabinet proudly bears the original brass plaque reading: "Harrods (Bs. As.) Ld́a. FLORIDA 871 INDUSTRIA ARGENTINA," confirming its provenance from the renowned department store's Argentine branch, which commissioned high-quality, locally-made furniture. This piece is a magnificent statement for a dining room, living area, or dedicated home bar. • Style: Art Deco (Streamline/Geometric) • Maker/Provenance: Harrods (Bs. As.) Ld́a.
