About the Item

A superb and highly functional example of French Art Deco cabinetmaking, this cocktail bar cabinet dates to the 1930s and embodies the glamour and geometric refinement of the interwar period. Crafted in richly figured mahogany veneer with a deep lacquered finish in burgundy-rosewood tones, the piece retains exceptional presence and patina. The cabinet is designed in two distinct sections. The upper portion features a fall-front drop-down door that, when opened, reveals a fully mirrored interior with a glass shelf, the classic format for the Art Deco cocktail cabinet, designed to display glassware and bottles in a reflective, jewel-box setting. Two bi-fold side panels open outward to dramatically expand the serving surface, transforming the closed cabinet into a fully operational home bar. The lower section houses a generous storage compartment behind a pair of double doors, ideal for bottles and barware. Hardware throughout is in polished chrome/nickel: tubular cylindrical pulls on the upper fall-front and lower doors, chrome hinge details, and square chrome sabots at the base, all characteristic of the Machine Age influence on French furniture design of the 1930s. The cabinet stands on a simple plinth base with chrome feet, grounding the form with clean architectural lines. The rear of the cabinet is finished in secondary wood, consistent with period English trade cabinetmaking practice. Some light wear and patina consistent with age and use, adding authenticity to this original, unrestored example. A rare survivor in largely original condition, this cabinet would make a striking and fully functional statement piece in any interior. Dimensions W 68 cm / 26.77 in., D 44.5 cm / 17.52 in., H 90 cm / 35.43 in.

Located in Topeka, KS

Awesome vintage Art Deco dry bar or liquor cabinet comprised of Philippine mahogany. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. We have added a new black painted base. There were several small areas that have been repaired or veneer replaced. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Early to Mid-20th Century. It's 5 O’clock somewhere!! What a FANTASTIC vintage Art Deco dry bar or liquor cabinet!! It is comprised of wonderful Philippine Mahogany and finished all the way around so it can float nicely in any room you choose, plus we have added a lovely new black painted base… and it looks FABULOUS! The front double doors are spilt at the top and in the center by a wood handle that runs the length of the doors of the cabinet. So, you can open the smaller top section and leave the lower portion closed or vice versa. The right door closes over the left, so simply pull the right-hand door using the handle which reveals the inside of the cabinet featuring shelves and a small center storage unit with doors. Piano hinges assist each door in opening and the back of the doors are lined with a gorgeous vintage bark cloth...
