About the Item

Recently imported from Italy, this is a good example of post war Italian Avant Garde design. Measuring an impressive 3-metres from floor to ceiling – a common height in Italian apartments – with opportunity to arrange the shelves to suit. This impressive freestanding storage system comprises four teak uprights each standing on two height adjustable brass feet with an adjustable cap at the top, originally designed to fit floor to ceiling. Two drop-front maple-veneered cabinets both featuring a salmon pink mica laminate flap, fitted interior and brass key, a four-drawer cabinet, a double door cabinet with brass key and chain check straps, plus 10 chamfer front adjustable shelves. This is an honest piece, which has obviously been loved over its 70-year history and is a genuine survivor. Most of the cabinets show areas of veneer loss, repairs, chips and scratches - as shown in the last few photographs - however its still an incredibly attractive and impressive piece for those appreciative of period design and genuine patination.
