This piece was imagined by Mathieu Girard et Gauthier Pouillart of Atelier Cocorico. The visual strength and stability of Monument relies on an ingenious construction system that does not require any tool. The result is a brutalist, material centered piece with a strong sculptural presence. The two imposing “cross” columns that constitute the superstructure are the visual signature of the shelf, but also present and enhance beautiful objects or books. The monument system come in a large variety of dimensions and it is possible to make mono material shelfs or combine marble and wood. Mathieu Girard ans Gauthier Pouillart are both graduated of the Ecole Bleue in Paris in 2010 and 2011, a multidisciplinary training about the fields of design. They founded Cocorico Paris at the end of 2011. This design agency appreciates contemporary challenges, and develops unique stories for several companies in many fileds of action, like hospitality, offices, coworking, restaurant or shopping facilities.
