About the Item

A quiet architecture of line and mass, this sideboard by Maison Regain evokes the serene power of essential form. The rectilinear façade is punctuated by four inset doors, each framed in broad stiles and rails, their only adornment the shallow crescent pulls—carved directly into the grain like a gesture paused mid-gesture. Designed by Maison Regain, France, 1980s. Maison Regain was founded in the South of France in the postwar period and became synonymous with a distinctly Provençal mode of modernism. Drawing inspiration from the Alpine sobriety of Charlotte Perriand and the sculptural clarity of Pierre Chapo, Regain favored solid hardwoods, functional geometries, and minimal ornamentation—qualities that converge gracefully in this work. Executed in solid elm, the sideboard glows with golden umber tones and a vividly figured grain that animates each plane. The construction is rigorous but not severe—each joint, each proportion, is resolved with quiet confidence. Wear consistent with age and use. Meticulously preserved by Jada to maintain its structural integrity while honoring its original patina. This piece inhabits space with grounded elegance—its presence architectural, its silhouette softened by the warmth of hand-finished wood. A modern heirloom for interiors attuned to elemental materiality. Available for private acquisition. Inquiries from discerning collectors are welcome.
