About the Item

Elegant and highly refined Italian bar cabinet attributed to Pierluigi Colli, dating from the 1940s. This remarkable piece combines sophisticated design, luxurious materials, and exceptional craftsmanship, embodying the decorative elegance of mid-century Italian furniture. The cabinet features a striking architectural composition with gently curved side sections and a façade adorned with finely detailed maple floral inlays. Delicate recessed grooves frame each decorative motif, creating a subtle yet sophisticated contrast against the rich, warm-toned wood veneer. The two central doors open to reveal a mirrored bar compartment fitted with an original lighting system that illuminates automatically when the doors are opened, transforming the interior into an elegant display space. Below, a lower shelf incorporates a central glass panel that is likewise illuminated, enhancing the cabinet's visual presence and emphasizing its function as a luxurious cocktail cabinet. Particularly noteworthy are the sculptural vertical supports, finely hand-carved with acanthus leaf motifs running around their entire circumference. These decorative elements are complemented by the carved maple "grissinatura" detailing found along the edges of both the upper cabinet and the lower shelf, demonstrating the extraordinary attention to detail characteristic of the finest Italian craftsmanship of the period. The cabinet rests on four slender tapered legs ending in finely executed brass sabots, while the top is crowned by an elegantly shaped black glass surface that provides a sophisticated contrast to the warmth of the wood. Both decorative and functional, this cabinet represents an exceptional example of Italian design from the 1940s, where neoclassical inspiration meets the refined modernity that would later define the country's most celebrated designers. Recently restored by a skilled master craftsman, the cabinet is presented in very good vintage condition. The restoration has been carried out with respect for the original materials and character of the piece, preserving its authenticity, patina, and period charm while ensuring excellent usability. A rare and distinctive statement piece, ideal for collectors of important Italian furniture and for interiors seeking a sophisticated and highly decorative focal point.
