Sunrise Shrine by Christian Friedl Limited Edition of 2 Dimensions: D 53 x W 150 x H 85 cm. Materials: Walnut, brass. Sunrise tells his story... Diagonally cut, finely divided, through and through solid walnut wood. I am a chest of drawers with charm and charisma. In the finest handwork, my dress nestles on three sides and ends on a smooth surface at the back. The appearance of closely spaced domino pieces makes my outfit look structured. I also have a lot to offer inside: Four large and two smaller inside, marked and soft-closing drawers offer you plenty of storage space. I am a de facto space miracle. Mitre corner joints, a recessed shelf made of solid brass, and a concealed recessed grip make me a special one-of-kind piece all around. The motif of a rising sun has been engraved by my creator in abstract Form, by hand on the solid brass surface. Finally sanded and protected with natural oil, my surface appears silky matt and gets a natural cheer. Christian Friedl Longing is a funny thing. Some people have it, others follow it - and sometimes it is the particularly difficult times in life that remind you of what lies dormant within you. That's exactly how it was for me. The path to this was marked by a break from crafting. After all, it was 23 years and hundreds of exciting projects that I implemented together with many great customers and architects before I grappled with the question of what my life still had in store for me just before my 50th birthday. And that is exactly what brought me back to my professional roots: working with the living and sustainable material wood. Over time, I discovered that I was not made for the system. Returning to this very special material showed me where the path leads, although for me the creative process with and around the material wood is the main focus.
