About the Item

Antique American Tiger Oak Bowfront Curio Cabinet, circa 1895–1910. Crafted in richly figured quarter-sawn oak with striking medullary ray “tiger” grain, this shapely cabinet reflects the Late Victorian era with Empire Revival and Art Nouveau influences. Its simplified, elegant curves are characteristic of the early twentieth century. Three original curved glass panes enclose the front and sides, with the widest pane forming the central bowfront door and providing an exceptional multi-angle view of the interior. The cabinet features five display levels, including four removable, shaped wooden shelves carved with plate-holder grooves, plus a lower base shelf. Elegantly curved, corbelled wood columns frame the door and continue into substantial, stately legs. The cabinet retains its original-style lock and hardware, though the key is not included. Finished in a warm honey-to-amber golden oak patina with beautiful natural graining throughout. Maker unknown; the original maker label is no longer present.
