About the Item

The heavy baroque style carving and paneling in the doors add to the dramatic impact of this handsome dark pine armoire resting on carved skirt base. The pine has taken on a deep patina with over 200 years of use. Two doors open to spacious interior over one long lower drawer. This 6.5' tall armoire has been restored and waxed, so it is strong/stable and ready for use. There is expected wear/distress to the wood and back panels were replaced at some point in its history. All nicks, scratches, and distress are expected age-related signs of use. Key included as pull only. Old nicks, scratches, cracks/separations (see right panel door), worn edges/corners, etc. are reflective of generations of use and do not impact the function nor beauty of this impressive pine armoire. Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition, and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting all impact how item is viewed. Photos are part of item description, please ask questions or request additional photos of specific areas if needed. 18th Century French Carved Pine Two Door Wedding Armoire Cabinet

18th Century French Carved Pine Two Door Wedding Armoire Cabinet

Located in Round Top, TX

18th century French two door wedding armoire, crafted in pine with a rich brown patina. Elaborate carving is seen throughout, including along the crown where turtle doves appear within a wreath of flowers. Additional carved floral bouquets accent the cabinet, and musical instruments are carved into the door panels. A scalloped skirt finishes the lower edge. The right door secures in place with an exterior metal latch as the doors have shifted in place over years of use. Doors open to reveal removable interior shelves. Age related separation of planks is present, and holes appear to have been added at some point in time (possibly to assist removing shelves?). This armoire shows much old, dried wormhole activity, adding to the aged character of the cabinet (no longer active). The feet show additional distress and wear, and supports were added at some point to the back for improved stability. Restored strong, stable, and ready for use. A classic French wedding cabinet...
