About the Item

Ebonized and burl wood octagonal center table featuring an inlaid burl top and out swept sabre legs resting on original brass casters. Functions as a formal entry hall center table, a dramatic living room side or tea table. England, Circa 1875. This fine 19th-century Victorian octagonal accent table features a striking burled walnut top framed by a broad ebonized border with inlaid gilt neoclassical filigree and Greek key detailing. The top rests upon an intricate base composed of a central carved support flanked by four slender, turned spindles. The structure transitions into four down-swept cabriole legs decorated with coordinating ebonized and gilt accents, terminating in brass casters. The vibrant contrast between the warm, book-matched burl wood grain and the ebonized, gilt-accented frame gives this table an elevated, formal presence suitable for classic, eclectic, or Regency-inspired interiors. Condition Details Structurally stable and sturdy. The table surface exhibits minor surface scuffs, fine crazing in the original finish, and light rubbing to the gilt line work consistent with authentic age and historic use. Casters remain attached and functional.
