About the Item

Refined center table in the Charles X style, an authentic expression of Tuscan cabinetmaking from the first half of the 19th century (ca. 1830). This piece stands out for its balance of structural rigor and decorative finesse, typical of the Restoration period. The circular top is masterfully panelled in blond walnut essence, enhanced in the center by a fine star inlay (compass rose) made of contrasting light woods. The undercounter band, with clean and elegant lines, gives the cabinet a solid and harmonious silhouette. The support consists of a sturdy, finely turned central baluster shaft that rests on a solid tripod base. The three shaped, wavy legs end in a classic curl pattern, providing stability and formal momentum. Epoch: 19th Century (ca. 1820-1840) Style: Carlo X Origin: Tuscany, Italy Material: Solid walnut wood and veneer, polychrome wood inlays Excellent state of preservation. Furniture was produced, mainly in the Veneto, with a typically Baroque formal layout, but with more minute proportions and more elegant decorative modules typical of Rococo furniture that did not contrast with the old Baroque scenographic furniture. This style, which spread throughout the peninsula, was called Italian Baroque. Venice, already renowned for its painted and lacquered furniture, was the center of the development of this style, where it lasted well beyond the mid-eighteenth century. In addition to the Veneto, furniture in this style was built by the Genoese cabinetmakers heirs of Anton Maria Maragliano (1664 - 1739) and in Piedmont, where the productions of Luigi Prinotto (1706 - 1790) and Pietro Piffetti...
