About the Item

English, late 19th century faux bamboo coffee or end table that has been recently updated with new paint of ebonized effect and pasted decoupage of seashells. The density of shell illustrations glows with a gilded luster against the satin black paint that covers the table frame. Enhancing the linear poles are thin pinstripes of gold paint to imply the nodes of real bamboo. A top surface and lower shelf provide generous surface area to set drinks and create interesting displays; the unique scale would be at home in a variety of seating arrangements (and decorating styles). We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos. Please view the detailed image gallery for the current condition and message us with any questions.
