In the 1950s, post-war Italian designers sought a fresh and optimistic approach to their work, pairing timeless materials with modern ideas. Influenced by the organic forms of Isamu Noguchi and the restrained elegance of Scandinavian modernism, they turned to Carrara marble, brass, and other fine materials to create light and asymmetrical designs that departed from the rigidity of the pre-war past.
