Round coffee or sofa table in solid stained pine, produced in France during the late 1960s. The design captures the sculptural, essential quality associated with Charlotte Perriand’s alpine vocabulary, with a thick circular top resting on four robust cylindrical legs. This example features the sought-after rim variant, distinguished by a bullnose gallery edge incorporating an inner recessed channel, adding both visual rhythm and subtle functionality. The proportions are compact yet substantial, with a strong architectural presence defined by the contrast between the generous top and the grounded, monolithic legs. The recessed channel along the perimeter enhances the graphic clarity of the silhouette while offering a practical containment detail. The table has been carefully restored and refinished using traditional shellac (gomma lacca), enhancing the warmth and depth of the pine while respecting the original character of the piece. The surface presents a rich, tactile patina with natural tonal variations consistent with age.
