Maison Lecan presents this XXL solid oak coffee table from the 1950s, a unique piece that asserts itself through its exceptional scale and the quality of its construction. At 248 cm in length and weighing over 100 kg, it naturally structures large spaces without needing to impose itself in any other way than through its sheer presence. The oblong form with generously rounded ends has an effective simplicity — characteristic of the modernist vocabulary of the 1950s, in the manner of Pierre Chapo, where the nobility of raw material and purity of form take precedence over any ornament. The solid oak top, 6 cm thick, is tongue-and-groove assembled using a traditional technique that ensures lasting solidity. The wide planks with expressive grain and generous knots reveal a warm and living surface, with the blonde and golden tones characteristic of long-worked oak. The four solid dark-stained pine cylindrical legs create a fine counterpoint with the clarity of the top — same material, two different readings. The low height of 41 cm and satin varnish finish complete the piece with quiet restraint. A rare find, built to last, that will naturally find its place in a loft, a large house, or any space in search of furniture with genuine character. One of a kind. Over 100 kg.
