About the Item

A substantial console table/server from 19th century France, handcrafted from solid oak that exhibits the impressive techniques and talents of the woodworker. The smooth planks of the top (finished with breadboard ends) exhibit a warm glow within the grain, having developed a rich patina from time & use adding to the organic qualities. A wide drawer occupies the case that has been carved with an argyle pattern on the drawerfront and a massive wood knob shaped in a complementary sugarloaf dome, glides easily having been thoroughly cleaned and waxed. The whole is supported by thick, turned legs braced with H-form stretchers to use this table for a number of different rooms and functions. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to preserve all the historic character, ready for its next home. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos. Please view the detailed image gallery for the current condition or reach out directly with any questions.
