About the Item

Large late 18th Century or early 19th Century French carved stone and marble console table. Of architectural form and impressive scale. The rouge marble top, with a moulded and rounded edge and subtle veining, is constructed from three sections and sits above a pair of boldly carved stone corbel supports. Each support is decorated with scrolling volutes and stylised acanthus foliage, terminating in shaped block feet.  The stone has developed an attractive timeworn patina with areas of rubbing, small chips and old surface wear, while the marble shows historic marks and light surface scratches, with the joint line visible.
